Steps to Apply for TAN Registration
Step 1: Visit the Income Tax e-Filing Portal
Go to the Income Tax Department’s e-filing website or the official portal of NSDL for TAN application.
Step 2: Fill the TAN Application Form
- Select the “Apply Online” option for TAN.
- Fill out the Form 49B with necessary details like name, address, nature of the business, and details of the authorized person.
Step 3: Submit the Form and Pay Fees
Once you complete the application form, submit it online. A nominal processing fee is applicable for TAN registration.
Step 4: Receive Acknowledgment
After the online submission, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt with a unique reference number.
Step 5: Submit the Documents (if required)
For physical applications, submit the required documents to the respective TAN application center.
Step 6: Receive TAN
Once the application is processed, you will receive your TAN number. This can be downloaded from the official portal or sent to your registered address.
