Everything You Need to Know About RCMC Registration

Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) is a mandatory certificate issued by Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) or Commodity Boards in India.

What is RCMC Registration?

Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) is a mandatory certification issued by Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) or Commodity Boards in India. It is essential for businesses engaged in exporting goods and services to access benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) and government incentives. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) regulates this registration process.

RCMC serves as proof that the exporter is registered with a recognized export body, ensuring credibility in international trade. It is usually valid for five years and is required for availing subsidies, concessions, and assistance from the government.

Why is RCMC Registration Important?

  • Eligibility for Export Incentives – Required for claiming benefits under various government schemes like MEIS, SEIS, and RoDTEP.
  • Recognition as an Exporter – Helps businesses establish credibility in global trade.
  • Access to EPC Support – Enables exporters to get industry insights, trade guidance, and global market intelligence.
  • Ease of Business Expansion – Provides exporters access to international exhibitions, trade fairs, and buyer-seller meets.

Who Needs RCMC Registration?

RCMC registration is mandatory for exporters who want to claim benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP). The following categories of exporters require RCMC:

  • Merchant Exporters – Businesses that trade goods internationally without manufacturing them.
  • Manufacturer Exporters – Companies that produce and export their own goods.
  • Service Exporters – Businesses providing services internationally, such as IT, consultancy, or logistics.
  • Other Exporters – Anyone involved in special economic zones (SEZs) or 100% export-oriented units (EOUs).

How to Obtain RCMC Registration?

  1. Determine the Relevant Export Promotion Council (EPC) – Choose the appropriate EPC or Commodity Board based on your product or service.
  2. Apply for RCMC Online – Visit the DGFT portal or the concerned EPC website to fill out the application.
  3. Submit the Required Documents – Provide:
    • Import Export Code (IEC)
    • PAN Card of the business
    • GST registration certificate
    • Business registration proof (Company incorporation certificate, MSME registration, etc.)
    • Bank certificate or cancelled cheque
  4. Approval and Issuance of RCMC Certificate – Once verified, the RCMC certificate is issued, valid for five years.
